Kamalapur extension

Line 6 is being extended 1.16 km south from Motijheel to Kamalapur, next to Kamalapur railway station. It will be the line’s 17th station, and its fares are already on the official chart: ৳100 from Uttara North, ৳20 from Motijheel. The Business Standard reported in October 2026 that the extension is expected to open in July 2027.

Metro lines being built

Line 6 is the only line open today. MetroPath’s map also shows the lines that are coming, dashed, so you can see where they will go:

  • MRT Line 1 (under construction): from the airport through Notun Bazar, Badda and Rampura to Kamalapur, with a branch from Nadda to Purbachal.
  • MRT Line 5 North (under construction): from Hemayetpur through Gabtoli, Mirpur 10, Banani and Gulshan 2 to Bhatara.
  • MRT Line 5 South (planned): from Gabtoli through Shyamoli, Karwan Bazar and Hatirjheel to Dasherkandi.

Opening dates for these lines have moved many times, so we don’t repeat them here. Station positions on unbuilt lines are approximate.
